-I chose this artist because I love how there are different layers of paint.
-I incorporated this technique into my artwork by layering a lot of paint onto the girls face.

Artist: Mary A. Pennington
Techniques: Value && Monochromatic color scheme
-I will incorporate these techniques in my painting by showing lots of value and well, using a monochromatic color scheme.

Artist: Jennifer McDuffie
Blue Forest
Techniques: value, monochromatic color scheme
-I chose this artist because her artwork is very interesting. I love how she did the trees and how some are light and others are spooky and dark.
-I will incorporate these techniques by making parts of my painting really light and others really dark.

Monochromatic paintings

She uses the Mische Technique. Which is a painstaking Renaissance painting method in which an ink drawing and detailed egg tempera painting form a basis on which layers of oil glazes are built into the final image.

The paintings are a cross between the hyper-colourful black-light posters of the 60′s and the stylized figures found in Manga comics.

Artist Statement

My work expresses me in many ways. You can tell what mood I'm in by my artwork. My goals are to expand my artwork to different/bigger ideas. I feel like I just do the first thing I think of. I dont really think about all the possibilities and outcomes that I would have if I elaborated on my thoughts and showed it in my artwork. I want to work on that. My goal is to make my artwork better.
If I am in a bad mood my work is sloppy & depressing. I would probably use ink or crayons and color out of the lines so to speak. My mood definitely plays a big role. If I'm happy I will use bright colors and use colored pencils or pastels. I would probably also draw or color flowers, birds, butterflies, etc.
My current work hasn't really included a wide variety. If you look at it you will notice it is mostly collages. I normally stick to the same thing. But I have been trying to challenge myself and use different mediums & techniques.

My pencil drawings

I really like how my pencil drawings turned out.
I honestly don't like working with pencil, but I think I made it work.
